Arthur
J. Marvan was the first child of James and Mary Marvan,
followed by a sister Helen and a brother James, Jr.
In early youth he became active in the Sokol Tyrs gymnastic
organization and became one of their top gymnasts, specializing
in the high bar, an event in which he won many citations.
He had a very inquisitive and inventive mind and was an
avid collector of antique working guns and muzzle loaders
which he kept in a beautiful cabinet that he made himself.
Art
and Marge married in 1946, after he converted to the Byzantine
Catholic Religion. Their life together included lots of
traveling as Art loved driving and exploring new places.
An explorer to the end, while in the hospital he asked for
a map "so that he could see where he was" when
he was transferred into Rehab.
